I've created a lighting fixture schedule and want to get quantities of each different type that is in the project, but can't make Revit do this.My schedule includes only Family and Type columns. I have unchecked Itemize Every instance because I don't want to see every instance, only totals of each type. Under Sorting/Grouping, when I choose Title, Counts, and Totals, I don't get counts for each type, but only a "Grand Total: 2006" at the bottom of the schedule. When I chooseTitle and Totals, the words "Grand Total" appear at the bottom, but without a quantity. When I choose Count and Totals, only the number 2006 appears at the bottom (no words this time!).And when I choose Totals Only, no numbers or words appear at the bottom of the list. In all cases, the rest of what is displayed is the Family and Type columns with the appropriate information. Nowhere can I find a way to get quantities of each individual type. Anyone have any ideas? I know I did this once before (I think it was in a trial version of Revit Architecture 200 . I am using Revit MEP 2009. Thanks for your help.

Did you make sure to check off Calc. totals under the formating tab?

I tried this, but the calc totals box is grayed out. The only way I was able to get this box to be active was to include a Count column in my Lighting fixture schedule, but I still do not get counts by type. I can only get the total quantity of fixtures (2006) or a list that itemizes every instance, with a quantity of 1 in each line under quantity. Thanks for your reply, and if you have any other suggestions, I'll be looking forward to seeing them.

Oh, I just figured it out. I hadn't checked sort by Type. Now I'm getting type quantities. Thanks again.

To get the count by type use the Footer option in the Sorting/Grouping If you have the Sort by set to Type it sould give you a total by type.
