When you put typical wall foundations in they trim and chamfer at junctions and corners. The problem I am having is that I made a wall foundation using the solid extrusion feature. I did this because there are steps in my footing and I wanted the model to look right. Well when you do this, where the foundation extrusion meets a wall foundation at a corner they do not trim. Is there a way to make these trim and look correct. See attached picture.

what was it about your foundation having steps in the footing that you thought you could only do by using extrusions. coul you post a elevation shot of the foundations.

you can simply edit the profile of the foundation wall to create the stepping that you show in your elevation post. using extrusions is not needed in this case.

I agree that you can do it that way. I was just wondering if there was a way to do it with the extrusions so you can make the footing step (with tapered edge) look correct in the model. I like your way because it is easier and looks good on the plan. The way I was wanting to do it is probably not necessary because no one ever will the see the 3-D view but I thought it would look good.

are you refering to that sloped angle line that you show in your elevation as making the footing step with tapered edge. if so you can also create that by modifing the profile also.

I know you can change the profile of the wall, but how can you change the profile of the foundation?

Hey guys, I tried to create a create a family component using the wall foundation bearing footing as a template but then i realized that there is no family template because it s a system family. OK great.
So then I tried option 2 , what if a create a sweep - profile - wall- of the ( inverted t-shape foundation ) to be attached to the base of my wall so it can be adjustable as my wall moves or extends ???... i was so thrilled this could be the end of this stressful quest but then I ran into this msg
Could not create integral wall sweep for wall instance. Sweep position is outside of its wall. Please check sweep parameters.
but Im touching the base edge as any other profiles can ... as long as Im bound to an perimeter wall edge and the profile it's not floating in the air; should be good right ??
Does anyone know how to bypass this or get around a situation like this. Please help ...because of this I have 3 brand new gray hairs on my scalp. lol

Does this need to be a BIM element or only for documents?
You may need to just do an in-place family - sweep - structural foundation category.
