here's the situation, in AutoCAD, while working on schematic site drawings, we would just throw a polyline around various site areas, to get the SF for our estimators i.e. pavement, building pad, sidewalk/patio etc.. We want to keep all our project info in Revit, but we aren't creating 3D sites, just 2d sites with Color Region Fills to represent parkinglots, sidewalks etc... but we still need the areas of the Color Filled Regions, how do we go about doing this in Revit. Right now (because of frustration) we have been exporting to AutoCAD get these simple SF areas.

Filled regions do have areas--check the properties dialog box for a filled region. Another way is to make a flat toposurface, and split it into sub-regions for grass, paving, etc. The subregions also have area properties. cheers.....
