I have two exterior walls that also won't join. They are the same wall type, are aligned, and are joined properly in plan. In elevation when I select the tool join geometry, I can select one wall but not the other to join. I tried making the edges invisible with the linework tool, but then it fouled up appearance when I printed. Does anyone have a best practices tip for figuring out how to join geometry in elevation? Thanks!

If the walls are truely aligned face to face and are the same wall type and they are oriented the same way, there will be no need to use join geometry because the line between them will not be there in elevation. Sorry - something else is happening that you have not told us.

here is a 3 d view. To show the opening (breezeway) between the garage and the rest of the house, I just modeled the walls in plan to create the opening. Then I created a wall that had a base offset of 10', to create the proper opening height. The other condition is a location where we have partial height walls defining a balcony off the second floor. In both cases I made the wall types identical to the typical exterior walls that I'm trying to join with. Excuse the messiness of the model in general. I'm in the process of re-creating the roof and foundation to be more accurate-- ditching generic flat roof planes for sloped structure and soffits, etc. Thank you!!

You walls probably overlap at the end and thus they are considered as seperate walls. Try doing this as one wall and edit the profile to create the opening.

The walls should join if they are aligned properly, but effects that you display would be easier to achieve by editing the wall profile.
