Any suggestions on how to view a smoke detector and exhaust fan symbol on a standard floor plan view?

Isn't there already a standard symbol for smoke detector or exhaust fan?
I like to create the 3d object as a family then turn of the visibility (inside the family) for plan and rcp views and use symbolic lines to show the symbol in plan and rcp.

here is a smoke detector symbol to place on your plans:

I don't believe we have a symbol for exhaust fans here yet, but you can create your own using the family editor.
