Hi! I'm new to revit, and I know that this subject has been delt with in this forum lot's of times, but after reading through as many threads as I could find on the subject, I'm still stuck... I figured out, that to fight lightning without a ceiling, I need to make a new family and host it elsewhere... but how do I create a new familiy and then load the lightning component that I want to use in to it ? Or should I duplicate the component and then host it elsewhere (and how do I rehost it then) ?? Thx /jw

Hi. Thx for the response, really great video. Is it possible to load a lamp that has already been drawn ? Fx. the lamp I've attached, it's ceiling based, but I can't figure out how to change it, so that I can attach it wherever I want. Is it only possible to do if you create and draw up a whole new family ? thx's for the help so far ! /jw

I'm really not getting this whole ceiling thing ...
Anybody know of a tutorial that explain in detail the need-to-know-stuff about ceilings in revit ?
I've tried to create a normal ceiling, but no matter which ceiling view I choose, I get the same message:
"None of the created elements are visible in Reflected Ceiling Plan: (01) Stue terræn View. You may want to check the active view, its Parameters, and Visibility settings, as well as any Plan Regions and their settings."
Thx's
/jw

Hi Typhoon! Thanks alot for the videos, they helped me out bigtime! Can I rotate the lightning fixture after I finished working with it ? ex. if I have a 35 degree roof that I want to set the fixture on, and get the idea of it hanging from the roof ? Also, is it possible to adjust the 'length' of the fixture as i place it, or do I have to create new families for every length ? Thank's again for all your help! /jw

Hi, in your family, you can create ref. planes with dimensions (angles and so one) to control the lenght, inclination... the lighting fixture i imported to a "Family Face based", so if you place in a roof that family keep with the inclination of the roof, if you want to rotate you must do it in the family not in the project, unless like i told you, if you create parameters to control that in project, like you saw in the videos you can rotate (in project) the "spot light" in any direction...
