i have a drawing in revit 7 but would like more flexibilty regarding changing line types , line thickness, hatch patterns etc. for example a section view generated from the model shows too many lines i can do without is there a way of using the original model as base drawing in, say, drafting view and importing components or drawing lines over it to achieve an output which is not just a 2d view of the model any help appreciated

Without seeing the file, it's a bit hard to comment. A couple of things to try --> Change the detail level to medium or coarse. Adjust the clipping plane of your section to give you a 'thinner' slice through the building. Brett

you can also use the linework tool, set to invisible lines to remove unwanted edges in the section...
