New to Revit. Our office is implementing Revit 2009. We deal a lot in Multi-Family. The question I have is considering that there are 2 different Unit Plans in the project. Do I create a Family for each unit plan, or do I link a separate unit plan into a different Project and the build around the linked file. It seems to make sense to link, however the problem that I'm encountering is different facades on the same unit plan. Do I draw a separte shell around the unit plans and pop in openings where the windows and doors are. Not quite sure how to approach the Multi Family aspect of revit. Any comments and/or suggestions is welcomed!! THANKS!!

HAVE YOU LOOKED IN TO THE DESIGN OPTIONS COMAND?

I don't believe you want to use design options for this. I think you want to use groups for each unit plan.

Outline: - Model the shell of your building along with floors, stairs, elevators and common areas.
- Model one of each unit plan somewhere in the building at one of it's locations
- Create a Model Group of each unit plan, not including the exterior walls or corridor walls (if you have a double common wall, one wall can go to each unit, if you have a single common wall, I would leave them out of the group).
- Copy the group around to every other location desired
- Now when you modify one unit plan, they will update all over and the facade and corridor can be modified independantly.
- Tag, note and dimension one of each unit plan
- Create a Detail Group of the annotation items
- Copy the group around to every other location desired
Note: Steps 6 - 8 can be done between steps 3 and 4 and can be pinned to the model group so when you copy the model group around the detail group goes with it. Good Luck,
