Hello,

I am having trouble constructing a curtain wall panel successfully. When I open this (curtain wall panel) family and attempt to build it, I am making every effort to "lock" the window frames to the left and right constraints provided in "ref level" as well as "exterior", as well as to the reference planes that I draw. When this is not always successful, I add dimensions between frames and lock those to ensure everything is locked. When I try to load this curtain wall panel into my original project and apply it to a curtain system I have created and applied to a mass, not only does the curtain wall panel not fit into the curtain system, but it comes in incorrect as well. I have tried many times to get this to work, but it is not cooperating!

I have been instructed by my professor to go about constructing curtain wall panels this way, but am I doing something incorrect? I don't know what to do! I would greatly appreciate the help! Thank you!

You should not have to draw any reference lines.  The reference planes are already set up in the template.  Lock your panels to those planes and dimension as required from those for any offsetting elements.

You're trying to force dimensions on the panel, but these are determined by the curtain grids in your curtain wall.  Unlike a window, the sizes will automatically be set when you insert them into the model.
