Hello all. I would lik to thank the people who put this all together, it is a big help to those of us new to Revit. I have worked in BIM software for 5 years now and made the switch from Archi___ to Revit.

I have some objects in a project I am working on, a metal shop, and trying to find schedule-able objects has been impossible. They are of varying size and I tried to make a new family with shared parameters to then be representated in a schedule. I just want to make 3D boxes and indicate lengths, widths and manufacturer, amps, volts. If someone can ease my confusion I would be greatly appreciative.

First - read up on shared parameters in your help menu.  Only shared parameters can be scheduled.  Family parameters - type and instance, can control the family but can not be scheduled.  Shared parameters have to be created first before you can use them in a family.  From within the family, you can then set the parameter to the shared parameter you previously created.

I was able to create the shared parameters, but I cannot seem to get the text fields to show in the element properties. Length and widths are appearing, but not input fields of the amps and voltage.

Did you add these parameters to the family?

From inside the family editor, click on the family types - then add parameter ... pick your shared parameter, type of parameter and group it.

If you have done that - it should show up.
