My biggest wish for the next release of Revit is the ability to either add elevation tags to detail views, and/or the ability to reference elevations/plans using sections & detail tags. Anyone else ever run into this limitation?

Remember, except for SIM, tags are really parametric and actually are placed relative to the model so this really doesn't work.... but as a "drafting detail", you can always use a true plan / section - elevation detail that has all the model elements turned off - then you can use the callouts you want and draw what you want in 2D.

My biggest wish would be for further customization of graphic standards on construction sheets. The limitations of customizing elevation markers makes the administration sticky when it comes to pushing forward with training of architects on Revit.

I WISH REVIT HAD THE ABILITY TO CREATE A FILL PATTERN FOR WALLS FOR A CUT SECTION THAT WOULD SHOW IN PLAN VIEW BUT HAVE THE ABILITY TO TURN THE FILL PATERN OFF IN A CROSS SECTION VIEW.

I'm not sure if I understand Westview entirely, but you can select the wall-->right click-->Override Graphics in View--> then chose element (just that object) or by category (every type) and then change the fill pattern to not show

Wow, can I ask for some things that would actually improve productivity? 1. Thumbnail previews of views and sheets in project browser when hovered over. 2. a real keynote/spec editor 3. noteblocks to have a "filter by sheet" options

Thanks timbo 89 for the reply. I know you can override the graphics in the view by element, I was thinking more of having an option by catagory to have a fill pattern show in plan and not in section. Unless I am not seeing the option when I pick the override be catagory.

Why not just change the detail level to course?

THANKS FOR THE HELP. I TRIED A PLOT AT THE COUESE LEVEL AND SOME OF THE DETAILS WERE LOST. I GUESS ITS NOT A BIG DEAL TO CHANGE EACH WALL.

ppinc - you post is unclear. When you say finish, do you maen surface finish in elevations or do you mean the linework in plan?

Oops sorry for that.... I mean that I would like to turn the linework off in various views. I prefer to draw with plaster on the walls and to be visible in section and elevation and detail views but not in plan view...I know the simple solution is to change view setting to course but the wall still retains the thickness of the structure and the included finish....and dimensioning the walls in plan with a finish is turning out to be more time consuming than it is worth as the drawing must be dimensioned from structure to structure and not finish to finish. I also realise that i can add in a 15mm thick wall against the structure which can be hidden but i feel that kinda defeats the point of revit....my wishlist item is then to have a subheading under the WALLS item that is listed as plaster and could then be switched on and off as necessary.....would that be too frivalous a request or not?....thanks for your input

I agree with ppinc 100%. I guess it would be like the Archicad partial structure display (that is where you can choose to just show the structure and no finishes). For now I just use a wall sweep and put it under the category of "Plasterboad" in object styles, and then I can easily turn it off. But it would be good if ppinc's wish came true. You should submit it as a Augi wishlist item.

Timbo, My quik work around of that is as follows: select wall, right click - override graphics in view - by category, then override the walls cut lines and make the color white. that will make the finish layer invisible.

That's a good way to do it, but the dimensioning still snaps to the outside layer unless you keep hitting tab, and after a while that would get annoying.
