Quick question,
Does anyone know how to create custom leader arrowheads, different from the ones that are available out of the box. Kind of the way you could do that with ACAD blocks.

Can't be done, at least in 7.0, I haven't received 8.0 yet so don't know about that release. That said, even though they are "system" families, you do have some control. We defined a new arrowhead type called ArchArrow and gave it a 90 degree angle, bumped up the line weight of the leader a little bit and it comes close to what we would like to have.

That's what I figured, but I thought I'd ask. Something else that can be added to the wishlist.

Hello Tom, How did you do that? Can you please explain. We are trying to get the custom Architectural Leader Arrows, but no idea. Your help will be appreciated.
Thanks

Not much has changed from Revit 7.0, arrowheads are still system families in 9.1.
Go to: Settings>Annotations>Arrowheads
Take an already defined arrowhead, duplicate it to Arch Arrow or name you like. Set properties of Arch Arrow to use arrow style of "arrow" with "arrow width angle" of 90 degrees, change "tick size" to your liking. (I set to same size as my text height i.e. 3/32"
Then in text properties (place text and go to the properties box) select your newly created Arch Arrow for the "leader arrowhead" for that text type. Assign a wider pen weight (I use 4) to the text type. The pen weight will be for both the text, leader and arrow as you cannot control each one independantly (yet). Repeat for all text types, annotation symbols and dimensions you want to change to Arch Arrow. (hopefully do this in your template)
Arrows are still a bit of a compramise in Revit, but this gets you a little closer hopefully.

While Tom is away, I have also done this and I have a good understanding what tomdinmn explained as I have also made my own arrow heads in Acad. Go to pull down menu Settings -> Annotations => Arrowheads... you will get a dialog box change Arrow Width Angle lets say 90ยบ like architects do. Then Settings Line Weights 3rd tab Annotation Line Weight bump up to what you desire.
Hope it helps.
