Even i had the same doubt to begin with. But i jus used the room tag and modified its appearance.(We use an ellipse around the tag name.) Mostly it will come inside the shaft over the cut out indication and the lines had to be trimmed. So what i did is that i made the ellipse as a maskin region in the family itself. This way my trimming time was saved Hope it was useful.

i dont realy get what you are trying to say. i know how to make a tag family but i cant seem to add a tag so i can tag opening shafts. unless i would go and make the shaft as a family but i have tried that and was not able to make a family that could cut out multiple floors. maybe the best way to do this is to make a shaft opening and then add in a family for shafts that i can add parameters to and tag. any other suggestions?

I don understand why u were not able to add a tag to a shaft opening. A normal Room tag itself works as a Shaft Tag too provided u have the bounding elements like wall / room separation line.

what i want to do is be able to add shared parameters to them and schedule them. if i do it with rooms some parameters that i want for shafts wil be added to all rooms. but shafts arnt realy family's so i gues the best way to do it is to make a shaft opening and then add in a family for shafts that i can add parameters to and tag.

Oh! Now i got wht u wanted. I thought u had trouble in taggin itself. and ur idea for creating a family for shafts to add parameters seems fine to me. i have to try it out myself though. i had a similar shaft scheduling doubt which i have posted in another thread. Will try ur method. thanks
