Is there any way to create a window family with a void or opening that cuts walls when placed in a project? Ex: You have two walls one in front of the other, and when you place the window in one of the walls it creates an opening in the other wall directly across from the window?

you have to use join geometry and join the two walls and the window will cut both walls. HTH
