A co-worker and I are trying to work through a problem in a project (200 that covers a very large, hilly site. So we have this gigantic complex toposurface... and not much else... in the file and it is already 50MB. It doesn't seem to really be running that slow, but we noticed when he tried to place an elevation, a "not visible in this view... view parameters... plan regions... blah blah blah" warning came up. Then, of course, the symbol disappears. There was nothing in the visibility settings of either the view or the element that seemed to be causing this. Funny thing is, when we delete the view, the center circle part of the elevation symbol re-appears!! If we check the box to create a new elevation view, it disappears again! Anyway, to get to the point, is this toposurface simply too big for Revit to handle? Should we be modelling the surface in SketchUp or something else, and then importing or linking it? Any ideas as to why a giant toposurface at 1":400' would cause elevation symbols to act up?

Hi, are you try to modeling this site (surface) in the "SITE" view or in other View (i.e. level1, 2....)????

You should be able to work with a large topo alright as long as your PC is leaning more towards high end. As far as the elevations there could be a number of things causing it but I wouldn't know where to start without actually being in the file. maybe try created some more levels and add some elevations there and see if they work?

I think he created it in a duplicate level of the 'Main Floor' level... But he ended up copying everything over to a new file, and it seems to be working fine now. (knocking on my wooden desk...) Thanks anyway for trying to help!

Remember that you can always put your site in a workset and not load it. I like to have it in a linked file.
