I have a sweep with 4 seperate "parts" within the profile...is it possible to assign seperate materials to each "part"?

It depends like you create the sweep, if you create a sweep for first "Part" and you close the sweep, then you create another sweep to second "part" and close and so one, YES, you can assign a material for each "Seperate sweep"... edit the sweep, then edit 1 "Part" and go to properties and in the "Material" line ADD a material for that Part, then do the same to the others..

Otherwise you'll need to pick one material, and use the Paint tool to change the surface material for the others. (this won't help if you want to create a material schedule)
