Using RAC2009 (model started in RAC200 I have a relatively complex residential model w/a number of detailed section callouts. We had to change the basement height, and I anticipated receiving warnings/errors and was careful to review them when I made the change, but was surprised that a number of my detailed callouts simply deleted themselves without a related error. I was able to change some (seemingly unrelated) things and re-make the change without loosing anything, but I'd like to understand what happened if anyone knows.

I assume you are on 2009 ... When you say detailed section callouts ... you mean a detail called out from a section. And you say the detail was deleted. Are you sure? Did you look in the browser. The detail is probably still there - just out of view in the section. Find the section where you called it out & turn off your view crop. Do the same with the detail if you can find it. Most times these stay in the same place "elevation" wise and you have to move the detail elements and annotations up to the new elevation.

Yep, 2009. And yes, I mean actually deleted, not just turned off in the section view. That's why I found it so strange. They deleted from within views, from the view tree, and off the sheets. In other words deleted out of the project.

I think you need to add more details of what happened. Where/how were the views created. How did you adjust the floor elevation. If you moved it up from an elevation and clicked the disjoin, this would happen. Please add more information so that we don't have to keep guessing.

Alright, here's the detailed scoop: I created my detail sections by going into the various section views I wanted details of and using the View>Callout tool to create enlarged sections. My sections are at 1/4"=1' and my callouts are at 1"=1'. I set my far clip settings in my detail views to independent, and gave a 2'-0" Far Clip Offset. Then I drafted like a crazy person all over the detail views. Then, of course, we find out that the engineers assumed one F.F. that is different from what the LandArchs have been going by. So here are my levels from low to high: High Water Table : Basement : 1st Floor : 1st Fl Head : 1st Floor Ceil. : 2nd Floor : 2nd Floor Head : 2nd Fl Ceiling. Since my site is linked seperately, I moved my levels relative to this project and only needed to move the Water Table and Basement. I moved the Water Table 3" up and then both the Basement and Water Table 6" up (never checking disjoin). I received no warnings when moving the water table alone (as I have nothing referencing that level) but received about 30 or 35 warnings and about 3 errors when moving the two of them. Warnings were about things joined but not touching, and misaligned area regions. Errors about sweeps needing to be deleted. I checked the unjoin/delete button and then looked around for the implications. I found the sweeps deleted, my basement ceiling had moved up 6" as it was referenced to the Basement Level, and a wall was deleted. Then I noticed that the Callout Details were not in my view tree, and snooped around on the sheets and views to find them deleted. I undid back to before I moved the Basement and Water Table levels and did it again while watching the tree, and right before my eyes the 6 or so views disappeared from the "Sections (Building Section)" branch of my view tree. Knowing how quirky Revit can be at times, I undid again, and reassociated my basement ceiling and the perimiter drain sweeps to the first floor, and repeated the move operation (again without checking disjoin). This time I only received the join warnings, and none of the detail callouts disappeared from my view tree. As I said before, I haven't lost any work, but I always feel uneasy when something quirky happens that I don't understand And thanks for your Help so far WWHub!

I understand your dismay. I had a similar experience. That is why I understand why some things happen. From my experience, my best advice is this: When making major changes, like floor height or bay width adjustments, in projects that have dimensions/tags/detail elements, always have a backup copy of the project that you can open and copy - paste from. All annotation items are vulnerable to major adjustments and when you disjoin items, these usually all go away.
