When I open my elevation views, the levels are there but no building. We are pretty new to Revit. We imported a large ACAD civil site plan and traced the contours. This made some remote point which the model revolved around. In order to make 3d viewing easier, we moved the model. That took the building out of the elevation views. Can someone please give us some insight into how to fix this problem?

I sounds like your problem is with the elevation line. If you click on the elevation marker you will get a blue line with some snaps on it. These represent the extence of the elevation view. When you move the model sometimes those elevations lines stay in there original location. Try that and let me know if that fixes the problem.

Thanks for the help. I zoomed out and found the lines you mentioned. I moved them in. I have other related problems to solve. I did move the model which was probably a mistake. I moved it because in 3d view I couldn't rotate the model without zooming out to a degree that it was hard to see the movement. I have an associated ACAD site from my Civil Engineer that may have a remote point causing the problem. I have tried moving it back on a duplicate file and It work for a short time but then the same problem arose.
Along with that frustration, I have one or two Level annotations which have extend far from the model in some of the elevation views. I tried unlocking and stretching them or moving them close to the model but it doesn't work.
Thanks again for the help, and if you have some suggestions for the other problems I will be gratefull.
Sincerely,
edcarchitect

To help control annotation (grids and elevation visability) you may wish to explore the use of "scope boxes". Some people swear by them, others swear at them, but they are there as an option. Check the Revit help file for a decent explanation.

The best way to rotate around a building is the click and highlight part of the building that you want to rotate around, then use your Dynamic modify view...or F8. It will rotate around the part that was highlighted.
