In Revit Architecture 06 you could export the 3D view to a pdf file so the client could orbit the model without downloading another programme. In Revit Architectur 09 this is not an option, is there a way to achieve this?

I think there is some confusion here between export and print .... dwf & pdf. When I hear export, I think of creating a file that can be read and manipulated by a different program. Printing is simply a 2d operation. 3D pdf's and 3D dwf's are kind of a cross between the two processes but they only contain limited information. So my question is what do you want? You can easily print a 2d pdf throught the print command. You can also publish to a 2d or 3D dwf. But you can't export to either one of these. All of this information is available through your help menu. And like most help menu's .... if it doesn't have a listing for it, it probably doesn't do it.

Printing directly to a PDF file with Revit cannot be done. However, you can export sheets to a DWG file and then use DWG TrueView™ 2009 to open the DWG files and print them to PDF.When printing in DWG TrueView 2009, use the DWG to PDF.pc3 printer to create PDF files. The latest version of DWG TrueView can be downloaded from http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?id=6703438&siteID=123112Neither Revit Architecture 2008 nor Revit Architecture 2009 included any PDF driver applicationIf you already had Adobe Acrobat –or any other PDF writer- installed on your system, you should be able to use the same writer to create PDF files with Revit Architecture 2008

matto - Sorry but you are mistaken. We print directly to a pdf file using cute pdf. This is how we send all of our documents to our outside print company. The great think about REVIT making pdf's is that we can create one pdf having all the sheets. You can't print to a 3d pdf but you can create a 3d dwf.

Everyone is getting confused about the original question, most likely because they have never seen it before. It is possible to create 3D .pdf files readable by Adobe Reader. You cannot create these natively in Revit but you can export to a 3D .dwf and then convert the .dwf to a 3D .pdf. It also compressed the file size considerably as most of the information is lost in the process. This is very helpful because most people dont have TrueView, but almost everyone has Adobe Reader installed.

hardisu, I know you can create a 3D pdf if you have the program to do so ... which most people do not and that is what the original poster did not want to do. But as already posted - 3d dwf's are available directly out of REVIT and the viewer is free ... and besides that, the 3d dwf is so useful in other ways. If you have not tried the 3d dwf viewer, I suggest you do.

@ WWHub Good point. I forget that my firm has the Adobe 3D program at its disposal. We have found it extremely useful when trying to show subcontractors certain areas that they should look out for or give them a general feel for a project. Also file sizes are small and can easily be sent via email. I agree the dwf viewer is much better for those who know what they are doing in front of a computer screen.
