I asked this question in Augi but had no response... http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=76575 I have noticed the subregions changes the contours, and that it is actually altering the toposurface. Infact it is coming up as reporting changes in the topography schedule with cut/fill differences. If I drag the subregion it changes the contours as it goes!I presume that this IS NOT the way it is supposed to work!Does anyone know what is going on here? I presume that this is a bug? It makes me wary about using subregions.

Hi Psymon, it's normal and it's the right thing when you change the topography (elevation points) the logical is the contour lines must change too, to represent the new "Site" in ground, so, if you create sub-regions and change the elevations or edit the topo and change the elevation points the contours must be changed, this is not a BUG, what you can do if you want to preserve the original site and contours you know what you can do....

There is a tread here in this site by JUSTINT (revitup.co.za) to create a new view with new "Site" and preserve the original to calculate the volumes report (Fill and Cut), personaly i create my volumes reports in CIVIL 3D but we can do it in revit, he explain very well the process....

ummm... yes, but subregions themselves are not supposed to change the topography. They are only supposed to "paint" a graphic onto the topography and leave the underlying topogrphy unchanged. However when I have used it it does change the elevation (however slightly) of the underlying topography.

Psymon, "They are only supposed to "paint" a graphic onto the topography and leave the underlying topogrphy unchanged.", you have right, the sub-regions don't change the elevations of toposurface, you don't tell what version of Revit you are working, but, i do a test with 2008, create a surface with 2 points in bottom with 0 elevation and 2 points on top with 10meters of elevation, i go to VG and in topographics change the color and the type of line the Master and secondary contours, label the contours, then create a sub-region (rectangle) in the middle of my toposurface and change the material to grass (sub-region) revit DON'T CHANGE ANY CONTOUR, keep the drew of contours, so, you must do something, you must change any point of the surface to change the contour lines...

The Version is 2009. As I noted before I have posted the Revit file with the topography and a topography schedule showing the change in the cut fill made by the subregion. I will not upload the files, but they can be found here. I appreciate your replies, but I still think it is a bug. http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=76575

Sorry, appreciate your help, but if you look at my file, it reports the subregion in the Topography schedule, and it shouldn't.

oh, i see now the shedule, but the Sub-regions are used normally to represent ways of circulation, parking, strolls and other proper spaces of the exterior arrangements of a building and present the additional advantage of the respective areas to be quickly identified and extracted for maps of amounts (shedules), so what you have is your shedule of your topo (cut-fill-net) where are included separately the area of all the sub-regions you have on that surface...
