Does anyone know if there is a block out there that would work as a lane divider for a lap pool or do i need to create one myself?

Here's a new 'family' I just made (no 'blocks' in REVIT). See attached rfa family file and image of result. You can change the buoy material before or after you place the object. As you place the object you just pick points like you are drawing a line. This is a good example of a nested array of a basic solid extrusion (buoy)in a line based family.

dgcad, Instead of posting a family in the forum, you could upload it. Thanks,

Obviously you have not stated what REVIT version you are using in any of your posts.

This is an easy family to build. Use a line base family - make your first float as an extrusion then do an array. You could make it fully parametric and that would be a good learning experience. As a minimum, set the number of your elements to a label that is instance based.

WWhub- I am still kind of new to REVIT and I haven't had that much exposure to creating a family. Are there any good tutorials out there that would lend some help? Thanks!

joshb, Just search the forum site for tutorials and you should find several links. Look under the resources tab and you will find links to tutorials too.

FYI - I am using REVIT 2009. Also you should 'not' array a local extrusion etc. within a 'line based family' It takes up too much memory on the client end. REVIT warns against doing this. Always take the time to create the family that you want to array externally and save it as it's own .rfs family then load (nest) that family into your new 'line based' family and array it then. ie: A nested array ! This is not an exercise for newbies. Takes a little practice. Especially if you want to carry forward any parameters (materials, dimensions etc) from the original family that is being arrayed. It's totally do-able but takes some patients in the beginning. I will upload this to to the revitcity database. Not sure what catagory however ? Specialties?
