Hi

Does anybody know the best way to create a cut + fill on a toposurface???

I have a fairly sunstantial fall (4mtrs over the building area) and the issue I am having is this: When creating a "Pad" it creates a vertical plane on both the cut side and the fill side. I am wanting to represent BOTH the cut AND the fill as being battered on a 45 degree slope.

The only way I can see this to be done is by the use of "Graded Region". Is there an easier way round??? If using a graded region is the ONLY way then does anyone have any helpful hints???

I am yet to tackle this and can see this easily becoming one of those painful issues which require hours of attention.

Many thanks in advance for any comments.

Hi Justin.

 THANKS A MILLION MATE!!!

That link makes it all seem a little clearer. I'm liking the whole copy the toposurface hint they had in there. The problem I have is the way the company I work for take levels. Our company doesn't seek the services of a surveyor so the only information I get are a few spot levels around the building perimeter (and maybe at boundary intersections if I can persuade them) and that's about it. It was just by luck that the sub-division for this lot had levels done. In an ideal world all our sites would be surveyed, and detailed drawings regarding levels of the proposed cut + fill would be supplied. Then I could just create two toposurfaces from the two drawings (existing + with cut + fill) and all would be sweet. As it stands I just get told the cut depth and fill height and that's it. This basically means the painful process of spot elevations, etc. to try and work out the required levels to represent the 45 degree slope.

If there were a feature that allowed you to define a slope on the pad would make life much easier.

Thanks all the same though. I didn't know where to start before and your link has at least given me some direction to which I am truly grateful for. The process is much clearer now.

Thanks once again Justin. Your help is muchly appreciated mate.

Cheers!

No problem azcop...

You can also add a slope to a building pad in Revit 2009... edit the pad to go into sketch mode and look for the Slope Arrow tool... draw the arrow from / to where you want the slope to run and then select the arrow and go to it's properties to set the slope height or angle.. 2009 will even let you add multiple pads as long as they don't overlap..

If you haven't seen all the new features... click to this link: http://l.b5z.net/i/u/6046872/f/RAC_2009.pdf
