THE TWO WALLS SHOWN ARE THE SAME WALLS FROM PREVIOUS ATTCHMNT. I HAVE TWO DIFFERENT WALL TYPES. I UNDERSTAND THAT I NEED TO CHANGE THE MATERIAL BY DUPLICATING AND MAKING A NEW MATERIAL IN ORDER TO GET THE RESULTS I'M LOOKING FOR. JUST WONDERING WHAT'S DIFFERENT ABOUT THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN "WALL THICKNESS" PROPERTY AND WALL MATERIALS. WHEN i CHANGE THE THICKNESS PROPERTY IT CHANGES ONLY THE WALL THAT WAS SELECTED BUT, WHEN I CHANGE THE COLOR OF THE CERAMIC TILE (ALSO IN THE "EDIT ASSEMBLY" DIALOGUE BOX) IT NOT ONLY CHANGES THE COLOR OF THE TILE IN THE SELECTED WALL BUT, ALSO THE WALL THAT WAS NOT SELECTED FOR EDIT. iN OTHER WORDS WHAT'S THE UNDERLYING DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO PROPERTIES THAT REQUIRES A NEW WALL MATERIAL TO BE CREATED, YET YOU CAN CHANGE THE THICKNESS AT WILL WITHOUT MAKING A "NEW THICKNESS PROPERTY" after reading this back i'm not even sure i understand the question but, i know there's one in there somewhere. hopefully someone can shed some light.

I think I figured out your question, my answer is this: Wall thickness is a type property, when you adjust the thickness of a type, it effects only that type. Now, when you change a material's properties, it is a project wide change. For example, your tile, let's say you name it TILE-PINK, and you get it to be pink. Then you go to another wall, if you want one to be blue, and one to be pink, then you need to duplicate that material, and assign it the new properties, and then you need to assign the wall the new material. I use an EXT-Glass material, and an internal glass material for all of our project's windows, if at any time, I get more information, or a change to what color, or product we will be using, I can change the entire project from one spot. I hope this helps.

yeah that helps. being new I'm just wondering if i'll come across the "project wide" parameter in other elements like windows and doors for instance
