Forums >> Revit Building >> Technical Support >> Wall Sweep - Reveal; How to dimension to reveal centerline? (RAC 2009)

I created a new profile, simple 1/2" x 1/2" box for a reveal. I created it using a wall sweep profile family template. I labeled the two reference planes that bisect the center as "center front/back" and "center Right/left". These also are used to designate my origin. I loaded into my project and then created a new wall sweep and apply this sweep to my wall. I want to dimension to the center of this wall sweep by tabbing through my options when dimensioning to grab the center reference plane that was placed during family creation. However I only get the two edges of the reveal and no center, thus not creating my centerline dimension.... (I Do have a separate dimension style for centerlines, with dashed witness lines and a CL symbol and I am using this during my task) Any thoughts?

Profiles allow you to use an invisible line. Use that at the center of your reveal profile family. Have not tried this but I use it in other families.

Thanks for the suggestion, however when working with profile it doesn't allow you to have lines that aren't closed loops. Any other thoughts?

Since you can do anything in the family, you will have to punt.... I ususally put a small line and dimension from there. Not REVIT like but looks like the only option. I would have a couple of lines with a dimension that I either group and place where I want them or just copy and place.

Has anyone found a fix for this?

Did you try putting a reference plane in the profile and give it a "Stronge Reference" in its properties?
