Version: Revit Architecture 2009 Two questions: 1. How to edit a grid after it was created. I'm trying to remove a portion of a grid; to shorten a grid and to take out a piece in the middle. I can highlight the grid and select the "Add and remove Segments". Then I click on the glidline in the menu and I can add grids, but it doesn't seem possible to edit or change a grid. Is the only way to do this to delete the grid and mullions on that line and start over? I hope not. 2. I'm doing a remodel project where I need to modify an existing storefront. Is there a way to have for example a new door, panel and a few mullions within the existing curtain wall? It seems to want to be one or the other not mixed as I need it to do. If that isn't possible can I do a storefront within a storefront; i.e. a new storefront within an existing storefront? Thanks in advance

There may be some confusion as to what exactly is not modifying or changing when you use the add/remove segment tool so these answers may not be exactly what you were looking for, but here goes: 1) take a look at this: http://gibsonhh.info/revit/2008-07-18_1558.swf You can edit and change gridlines at any point. Just be sur eyou are selecting the grid line and not the mullions. To do this use the tab key till you get the dashed line that represents the gridline (you see it in the video). 2) look into phasing: http://gibsonhh.info/revit/2008-07-18_1618.swf You will need to have 2 different storefront to do this. It's best accomplished with a view of the new construction phase and a view of the existing phase (mainly because everything you draw in an existing phase view is made in the existing phase, and everything you draw in a new construction phase view is made in the new construction phase). Draw your existing storefront as it is in the existing phase (you'll notice it shows up in the new construction phase also if your filters are set correctly. Once you have your existing storefront, copy it, then demolish it... that's right, take that big hammer and kill it! This will prevent any overlap errors from happening in the next step. Activate your new construction phase view, and then do Edit > Paste Aligned > Same Place (keyboard shortcut is 'PS'). This will put the exact same storefront in the exact same place, but in the new construction phase. Now you can edit the storefront that is in the new construction phase view without changing the storefront that is in the existing phase view. This is exactly demonstrated in the link above. HTH!

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in asia, but only slightly less well known is this! Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line! |

that first video looks very helpful, but I can't get the window to show the extents of the image while it plays. so I am missing most of the the steps for how to do what I am seeing. all I can see is the plan and elev window. and although it is useful to see that what I want to do is possible, I still don't know how to do it. could you reload the video or provide another link so that I can see the whole video? thanks
