Your boss is correct but both PDF and DWF are files that have free viewers available. You could send her a link to the AutoDESK page where she could download a viewer but that may be something she doesn't want to do. The dwf viewer is a really good program beacuse you can export both 3d and 2d. I would think this is a better option if she would install the free program but there is a learning curve involved. Although there are 3d pdf's available, that technology is not used that much yet but 2d pdf's have been around a long time. To make a 2d pdf, you only have to print the file using a pdf writing driver. Check and see if that is available in your print menu.

I haven't tried this personally, but another drafter in the office does this (he's the main Revit dude. I believe he's MacAddict08 on here, or some screename like that) download a PDF-print driver, such as CutePDF from http://www.cutepdf.com/Products/CutePDF/writer.asp Then, when in Revit, you can select CutePDF in your Print dialogue box.

Okay. now the problem is that. I set everything up so that it will print as an adobe pdf. but then everything freezes up and kicks me out! I guess i will have to either get them to download that driver or somehow make a disk so they can get it printed somewhere. Thanks for the help

If your boss doesn't have Revit, you can use the new release of the 3D PDF for Revit 2014 from Tetra 4d to create 3D PDFs directly from the Revit Add-Ins menu. By implementing a fully integrated 3D PDF solution you will improve efficiency and functionality because 3D PDFs can be viewed by anyone who has the Free Adobe Reader. Or you can use the 3D PDF Converter which allows you to convert a multitude of different 3D file formats into a 3D PDF document.

The problem with all of the 3D PDF's that I have seen is that there is no connection between the 3D model and any data provided like there is with a DWF. Also, can you cut sections through the model and turn items off like a DWF?
