I have many unused/unplaced views in my project browser but I can't determine which are unused because all views have been given a name. Is there a way to tell which views can safely be deleted?

Changing your browser to list views not on sheets will help you but you may still find you have some problems if you created other views from a duplicated view.

how to use your browser to list views not on sheets - sorry am revit challenged.

You should learn to use your HELP for simple questions like this. Looking for Browser Sort and you see these:
