Is it possible to create a net in Revit? I am modeling a hockey rink which has protective netting above the glass. Would I have to download something for this? Thanks.

You could probably created a curtain system with empty panels and a thin circular mullion profile as the threading. That way you are able to adjust the spacing and appearance. Or possibly create a family and use a few different length parameters, then use model lines with a large thickness to create the netting. Just brainstorming it seems like there are several options for this depending on the type of control you would like to have over the object.

Alabaster's thought process is interesting but it would take a lot of components and really eat up the memory.  We needed a mesh (net) so we used a metal screen bitmap.  It will render correctly but shows as a solid in your 2D work.

Why cant u just create the shape of the net with an extrusion or sweep and apply a hatch pattern to it...

Hey, do these pictures show what you want? The big wall is there to show that the net is transparent, and no rendering has been used.

Pick in the image and save as... or in the folder in revit directory "LOW RES" choose "FENCE03", you have severals with diferent kink of fences...

Typhoon,

your net rendering is exactally what I am trying to achieve.  I have saved the image that you have suggested. I created a wall that was only a 1/8" thick and applied the image you posted as the material.  However, when I rendered it, it was not transparent as your rendering showed.  It kept the black background. How did you accomplish the transparent effect?

That worked great. Thanks.

Does that "cut out" feature always work with just a black background?
