In 2009, I have created several custom casework families. When I load them into my project, they maintain the view range as set in the family rather than assuming the view range of my project views. The problem with this is that I need to create 2 plan views to display the top and bottom view of the casework pieces. Is there a setting that needs to be changed so that the famility will assume the plan view range of the project? Thanks.

Something wrong with your question. The view range of the family has nothing to do with the view range in the project. Obviously something is not right but you need to restate your question based on that knowledge - please.

I think your problem rests with how you have defined your families. Remember that if any part of your family is cut by the view range, the family will show. That includes any invisible lines in the family. Also look up in your REVIT help "cut family".

WWHub, In an attempt to clarify my question: I have drawn a piece of casework from the casework template and the visibility of all my objects are set to be visible when cut in plan. When I import the casework, it is in fact cut in plan. In the family, the cut plan of the view range in the ref. plan view is set for 4'-0". When I import the casework, it cuts the casework at 4'-0" regardless of what I have my cut plan set at in the view project. I need to be able to change the view range to 4'-0" in one view and 2'-7" in another view. But the casework shows up the same in both views.

Without knowing how your family is built, I doubt we can help. If you can post it, maybe someone will look at it.
