I am using Revit 2008 I have a question for anyone who has brought in a floor pattern from AutoCAD. A coworker of mine received a floor pattern from an interior design sub and when we imported it into Revit the patterns were fine but the colors were all off and generally looked awful. We linked it into the floor plan and tried to match the colors via the Object Styles dialog box by putting in the Hue and RGB numbers in the line color category under the Imported Objects tab but none of this seemed to work. We even tried manipulating the AutoCAD file, exploding the patterns, created new layers and yadda yadda yadda. Nothing seemed to work. Has anyone experienced anything like this before when importing patterns from AutoCAD? Or know what I am even asking about? Perhaps it was just that devish AutoCAD but nothing seemed to do worked. Thanks for the input!

Are you importing a fill pattern or a hatch pattern? It seems both. Are you using a ".pat" extension with your pattern. Can you send a screenshot? It its bitmap you are importing, have you tried Decal? If you are trying to use Revit as Autocad, Photoshop, Sketchup and the likes- you will be really disappointed. I tried to do that also, failed miserably. One thing I found out, if Autocad can do it, so much more in Revit. The best I can suggest is to Re-create it in Revit. Let us see, what you have, there's always a workaround.

m, Sorry it took me a few years to get back to you. It's actually a fill pattern. We actually did it in ADT 2008 just to get it out the door. The sub we used does not use Revit...so we had to use the ADT as a workaround. It would be nice if we all used Revit eh? Anyways... Thanks for the input.

Hey do these linetypes help you? Just create a new linetype and go custom-->import then choose a desired one.
