I am trying to build a section that consists of only the Tail and the Text/Labels. My problem is that I need the text to rotate with the section line. For instance, if I draw a section in plan at a 45deg angle, the text/label stays at 0deg. I want it at 45 with the line itself. I am currently running RS2008.00 Anyone have any idears! Thanks ahead of time

If you have tails only, there is no text, unless you have modified the tail family. If you have, you can modify the text that you placed in the family to rotate with the family byt unchecking "Keep Readble" in the text/label type properties.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in asia, but only slightly less well known is this! Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line! |

I unchecked it and it didnt work. Text/labels are still at 0deg rotation while the section line is at 45deg. I attached an image this time showing what I am after. The text on either end should be rotated with the section. The text at the bottom should actually be upside down. Edited on: Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 3:13:37 PM

verified, labels will indeed not rotate with the "Keep Readabl" option off. Sorry for the bad info. I thought I had this working at one point. Will have to go back and see if I can find what I did. Keep us updated if you find a fix.

Well, I have been playing with it and playing with it and I still cannot get it to work. Still woking on it when I can. Their has to be a way to do this. I cant imagine all drawings out of Revit retaining a 0deg rotation on all text. hmmmmm!

This is not really a problem because the label will always be readable by normal drafting convention. This is one of those limitations of the software that you adapt your office standards to.

I was able to do this in Revit 2011. You open up the section tail or head and edit it to make the text display the way you want it too. To open the family go file-project-family-then click on anotations and make sure you select the correct file that you have already loaded into your section cut symbol. Then edit it and load it into the family but when you close out of window make sure to save your changes to a different file name to make sure it does not affect your family.

Hallo. I had same problem and just fixed it. That is how:
When you use the Section head families, you need to have seperate family for your horizontal, vertical sections and every other section rotated in the plan on different angle.
My new custom designed section head worked perfectly on my horizontal sections. On the vertical ones the label was still horizontal. You need to save the section head family under new name and rotate !just the label! the way you want it to be rotated in your project. In the family it will look bizzare, because the label won't be facing the correct direction, but don't worry - when you import it in the project it will work just fine.
I hope I explained it well.
So happy - for the first time I have something to share and I am able to help back, not just to get help from you.
Wish you a nice day
