About Door Schedules: I loaded a basic double-flush door family copied from the imperial library in my project. This has two type parameters under Materials and Finishes: Door Material and Frame Material. I then created a door schedule and searched in the available fields for those two type parameters. While I was able to find Frame Material I can not find the Door Material one (this is already strange!). Also I noticed that The Frame Material parameter inserted from the available fields list does not correspond to the Frame Material type parameter that is in the door family. inserting the corresponding field in the schedule also created a new Frame Material instance parameter in my doors. To avoid instance parameters in schedules as suggested in this forum I tried then inserting a Panel Material type parameter via family editor (please note that Revit does not allow me to create another Door Material parameter since a parameter with the same name is already in the family, although not showing in the available fields list... since I did not want to remove the original Door Material parameter I choosed to give it a different name), I tryed reloading the double-flush door modified family with the new parameter, creating a door schedule and my Panel Material type parameter that I just added in the family is not in the available fields list. Now I am adding a type parameter through the schedule dialoge with the name Panel Material. This time Revit lets me do that in fact now I get two Panel Material Parameters in my doors... What would be the best way to deal with this issue? Thanks for any help. Post edited on 2005-04-13 12:35:27 Post edited on 2005-04-13 12:37:07

Normal parameters cannot be scheduled. You need to create the materials as shared parameters in the family and load the shared parameters file and apply it to doors. You'll then be able to shedule these items. HTH.

Mr Spot, I think I am almost there. I did as you suggested: create the shared parameters file wich reads as follows: # This is a Revit shared parameter file. # Do not edit manually. *GROUP ID NAME GROUP 1 Materials *PARAM GUID NAME DATATYPE DATACATEGORY GROUP PARAM 31a63d42-0552-4751-9941-7371201a61d3 Door Material TEXT 1 PARAM dbeef599-3055-4e68-ac16-6b798ab03ded Frame Material TEXT 1 I applied those two shared parameters to the door category and create a new schedule view. everything worked out fine except for now I get two Frame Material items in the available fields list. One is the shared type parameter that I just created, the other one (wich I did not expect to find) is an instance parameter. please note that either in the door family and in the project file no such parameter has been defined. Having these two parameters with same name would create confusion. Can you please tell me what is the mistake I am making? Thanks a lot, your help is greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately Revit already has one built in Frame Material system parameter for Doors... Interestingly enough there is no way to link this to the actual material of the frame.... So as such you are unable to remove it. Best bet is to make people aware of it and to advise to use the other. Agreed it is rather redundant and would be best removed... HTH.
