I'm trying to build a froof type that has a layer of built-up rigid ins. with a low slope seam roof, so the bottom of the ins is flat, and the top of the roof is sloped. i cant seem to "cut off" the roof at the bottom of the insulation so it is flat while still maintaining the slope at the top, the cutoff level in the element properties will only cut from the level specified-up, i need to slice my roof from a level-down. any other ideas? Thanks!

I can't remember where (possibly DGCAD.com), but there is a GREAT video on how to do this. In the roof assembly, there is a checkbox for "variable" to the far right of the material layers. Turn that on for your insulation layer. Then use the editing tools for the roof to create a slope in the roof (the edit points, edit lines tool in the options bar when you select the roof). After doing this, cut a section through the low point of the roof and you'll see that the insulation layer now varies to adjust to the new slope of the roof. HTH!

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in asia, but only slightly less well known is this! Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line! |
