What would cause a component not to have a Left or Right view to place on a legend?

More information would be useful or are you really trying to stump us. I know on walls, I've never seen that but I don't know what family you are trying to schedule.

When placing a Legend Component on a legend, you are given the option in the toolbar ("View" to show the plan view, or the front, back, left, or right elevation of the component. However, a component I need to use only gives me the option of the plan, front, and back view. I assume this is modified by editing the family, but can't find the option to do so anywhere. I am using Revit Architecture 2008.
