I'm have been struggling, trying to figure out how to create a dim width parameter for column in family. So that when I bring in the column I created into Project, I'd be able to change the width of the column.
Can anyone explain that to me?
Thanks

What type of family is it? I'd suggest it should be a detail component and adding a parameter would be the same as any other family.
Dimension between the two external edges of the column. Select the dimension, choose add parameter from the pull down at the top of screen then name and group appropriately and set as an instance or type depending on your needs.
You could also equalise around a reference plane if you want the column contents to remain centred.

Thanks! it now works.
It's column family I'm using. Gosh I wish I'm that smart.

Hey one more thing....
what you showed me worked with Square Column, but it won't work with a circle column...
Do you know how?

LOL, i just read your original post and my mind must've been wandering the other day as i was thinking of the other column... Which is why i suggested detail component. Please ignore that.
just add a radial dimension to the sketch of the circle and use the same method of select dimension and adding a parameter.
If the centre of the circle is not located at the origin of the family (intersection of two perpendicular reference planes set to "define origin" then you may need to constrain the centre point of the circle also.
To do this, in sketch mode, select the line and goto its properties, then select show centremark. Now align the centre mark to an intersection of reference planes.

Wonderful! it works. Thank you very much.
hey I got one more thing.....one last thing
How do I create Contraints parameter? I want to make contraints for top and bottom of the column that will connect with level line, so that when I bring in the column in project I'd be able to connect the top with roof or floor and same way with bottom for floor.
Thanks again

Hey never mind I got it figured out.
What I did was after I create the column, I go to Elevation view and align the top line of column to Upper level line, then lock the level line's constraints. Then when I brought it into Project, it will connect with any level line. So it worked!
Also I did a test by creating other column and left the level line's constraint unlocked, then I brought it into Project .. its top line of column won't connect with any level.
