Is there a way to define lineweights in elevations based on the distance of the element?  So far the answer appears to be "use the linework tool in each elevation view".....

Is there a way to export drawings to CAD drawings in layers other than AIA cad layers. I would like them to come in with our custom line colors and linetypes?

NO, you are correct about the linework tool. there are a couple of work-arounds that people have posted. you might  search for them.

YES, you can setup your own custom layer exports properties. Check the Help
