I am using Revit 8.1.  I am setting up a generic annotation family of an architect stamp. I want to add a family parameter (graphics heading) that allows the user to turn on or off the visibilty of the family when loaded into the project. So far, I have created the parameter, it shows up as a check box in the element properties when loaded into the project, but it DOES NOT control its visibilty.  Is there a formula I should be using, or what else am I doing wrong?

For having items turn on and off within a family, this can be used but but you want to turn on or off the entire family and this is not a good way to do it.

If you want to do it this way, then make the stamp be part of your sheet family.

-Then set your yes/no parameter as an instance based parameter there.

-Now, draw all of your stamp line work.  Select all of it and open the properties for these items.

-In the element properties box, under graphics - visible, there is a button clear to the right.

-Select that and you will see another pull-down where you pick your yes/no parameter.
