hi, i am trying to work on a local copy of a project. it is not necessary to save to the central file anymore.Actually the central file doesnt exist.I open the file from file/open, i select the option detach from central and i save the file with a new name. But when i open the new saved file it points me again to some central file.I have done it over and over again more than 30 times.Actually i am doing it each time i open the file, and it cant really detach it. WHAT TO DO NEXT????

Once you have enabled worksets, you now will always have a central file. Every time you open that file, REVIT will tell you you now have a new local file. That's ok - you can have a central and a local residing side by side. Just recognize that and work accordingly. That means - open the central - do a save as and check make this a central file after save - and save it to your local drive. Now you have a new central but you still need to do a save with a new name to create your local. Continue to work with your local and save to central whenever - if ever you want to. You can think of this as another backup.

I tried to save what i have done as a template file. Then i get a message that worksharing cannot be enabled for rte file, so once enabled the worksharing just stays. But i have another problem , i cannot delete and purge families i dont need, because they belong to the workset PROJECT STANDARTS, each time i make it editable, but i cant delete families i have put in the beginning

Since this was a central file, make sure you own the workset you are trying to delete families from. Click on the puzzle piece icon, under show, check the families box and see if someone else owns this family.

I have a student who got into worksets by mistake. We have detached her project file from central, but there are errors still occuring, such as - you own this element, but the file has not been updated in a while - after which the current operation is cancelled. This is occuring when she attempts to place a plan view in a sheet.

Once worksets are enabled, the file can never be a stand alone file without copying into a stand alone. You might try linking it into a blank project then binding it.
