Our firm is relativly new to revit and have recently started each project by working from a common blank project (essentially a template) which is preloaded with our defaults and standards. We have now startred several projects this way and with all projects at abut the same point we are realizing taht those that started with this template have not Site Plan under floor plans. This issue has left us all scratching our heads as far as how to restore this crucial piece.

We are useing Revit 09 (the template was originally created in 08, but has since been moved over).

Please Advise

thanks!

Hi, that's very simple to recover the "SITE PLAN", see the video: http://screencast.com/t/UsG92xue

Duplicate an existing view from Floor Plan found in your project browser, rename it to Site. From View Pull-down Menu, click Floor Plan, pick your new Floor plan called Site and give it a desired scale.  Then, right click the Site on the browser and edit the element properties, view range. Associate Top, Bottom and View Depth to GF level. Top offset should be above the highest point of building. View depth level should be below your lowest grade level. You can take a look at the standard template of Revit 2009 to get the feel of it.

Ok, So I know have a site plan per the responses, however, when I pick my ponts it is generating it way above the house, even though I have my eleveation set at 0'0" (same as my buildings main level).

Any idea as to what might be causeing this?

Adjust your reference plane.See if your active plane coincides with your reference plane, activate the blue grids.

Mhans- excuse my ignorance, but I dont know what you mean by actvate the blue grid (the only blue Im aware of are the floor planes, which are set at -9,0 and 9), or really even the active plane, Could you elaborate?

Typhoon- I dont know how to make fancy video screencaptures so I have attached 5 sequecial "photos" first I am in my site plan, then I select topo surface, you will notice that the elvation is 0'0", however, as I pick points none apear. I then finish surface and still nothing appears,THen in 3d you can see my surfaces way above the house.

(this is an existing conditions plan, so if it looks like 1950's suburbia, thats because it is)

Hi GG, to make this "Fancy Video" go: http://www.jingproject.com/ then download for free The JING, it's very easy to use to make photos or Video, about the Site i don't know how do you made  the "SITE PLAN", did you make by my way or the "MHANS" way? just like you did see in the second video (the continuation of the first) i create a site around the "House" with 0-0' but in METRIC, (the units don't matter) but you can check using your units (Feet and Fractional inches) when you are in SITE PLAN-VP-VIEW RANGE-EDIT and check if the "TOP and CUT PLANE" are with this values 328' 1 1/12 and in "BOTTOM and LEVEL" are 0'0'... if you can put the model to download when i go home i take a look on that....
