anyone knows any reference on how to create a totally new pattern file.

 or

any good website for downloading pattern files.

It is best to search your autocad pat files for something that is close or what you are looking for. Some manufacturers web sites may even have an AutoCAD PAT file. I found one for a culutred stone that looks like field stone and it worked good for a project.

Other than that it is a "dark art" that is not simple.

This is hard for me becasue I used Microstation and creating a cutom pattern was easy becasue it was what you drew was what you were going to get. I hate programing. If anyone else has something better please let us both know.
