When you say you've created a custom ceiling; did you create it as an in place family and set it in the Ceiling category? Regarding the ceiling name, you will need to rename it using the project browser. You'll find it under Families > Ceilings > Ceilnig 5 > Ceiling 5. Rename the last item there to get the ceiling tag to reflec tthe correct name. For the height, because the ceiling is a custom object, it has no clue how to treat the "Height Offset from Level' parameter. More importantly, you'll notice that the ceiling has no "Height Offset from Level" parameter. This is because it is an in place creation. Instead, your ceiling has an "Elevation" parameter... now why Revit doesn't allow you to tag an object's elevation (or at least it's not an option when creating custom tags) is beyond me. To be honest, the simplest way to do this would be to use shared parameters. i just tested it out and it took me about 5 minutes to set up the parameter and make the tag work. Th problem here is that the shared elevation parameter WILL NOT control the height of the ceiling. So if you need to change the height of the ceiling, you'll have to manually change the parameter in the tag. Hope this gets you started, I'd love to hear from anyone that can get an elevation or Height Offset tag working with in place ceiling families.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in asia, but only slightly less well known is this! Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line! |
