Having trouble getting diffusers to show in the RCP. Using 2009 and purged the diffusers and reloaded 2009 standard Revit diffusers and they show on the screen but do not plot. Anyone know what is going on?

They do not show up in the preview either. I have checked visibility and view depth and made sure the diffuser is located on the ceiling and everything seems correct but they still don't show up.

I am having the exact same problem. We are working in 2009 and used the Revit compenents. I have tried to plot from others computers with the same results. If I change the Model Graphic Style to Wire Frame I can see them in the print preview and they print, but not in Hidden Line, which is of course the graphic style we work in. The strang thing is it seems to be happening in all the ACT ceiling, and only some of the GWB on Mtl Stud ceilings and in fact on one GWB ceiling I can see the supply but not the return, and on the same ceiling type, same height, everything apples to apples I can not see either. BUT on the GWB where I can see one but not the other the diffusers that will not print are shown with dark lines, and they one's that will are sort of grayscale but they are the exact same diffusers. AND if I move a diffuser slightly over the line from the ACT onto a GWB soffit it will print. Check out the screen captures. Circled in red in the first one are the ones that will print. The diffuser that is over the line in the ACT/GWB ceiling is a copy of the one just to the bottom right of it, not a newly inserted diffuser. This is driving us bonkers. Thanks for any help.

I just spoke with a co-worker and he is having the same problem on a different project. I tried bringing in diffusers from the 2008 library to no avail. I even tried creating my own generic ceiling based family using both model and symbolic lines, again, with no luck. The fact that if you change it to wire mode and you can see and print them we have pinned it down to a problem with the ceiling but we don't know what it is. I have compared the 2009 ceiling to 2008 and can't discern any difference. We have no problem with this in 2008. The only work around we can come up with in the time being is to export the Revit RCP to CAD, use that as an Xref, put the diffusers and registers in a CAD drawing, detach the xref and link in the cad file to be able to print the RCPs with the mechanical components. HELP!

OK - working with my co-workers we found a solution, or at least a work around. YAY! Whew! First we tried using a void form with a start of -1" and end of -6" since the GWB was 4-1/2" think. This worked to make them printable, but was not cutting the hatch of the GWB. We checked out how a light worked and realized they use an opening, not a void. I went to the supply and return families and working in 3D in the bottom view we created openings and locked them to the model lines. This worked to both make them plottable and cut out the hatch of the GWB. I also found out, by creating a section view when I first did the void form (trying to find out why it wasn't cutting through the ceiling), those couple that were in the GWB and showed as plottable but appeared to be grayscaled had somehow attached to the floor! Whatever! I see in 2008 there is no opening on those supply and return families so this is still an issue, but at least we have a viable work around.

I was having the same issue in Revit 2009. Editing the family to include a void form worked. It seems that the return and supply that come with 09 were just missing the void cut through the host ceiling. No clue why it might show up on a gyp ceiling and not an act ceiling though. Thanks!
