I'm on revit 09 and we are trying to align a surface pattern on a curved wall. This is easy on a straight wall but I can't get it to work on a curved one. Is this not possible or does anyone have a work around? We are trying to align metal panel sections with a radius curtain wall mullions. Suggestions

I've always had issues aligning surface patterns on curved walls in Revit. The only way I have been successful is by dragging the line. This doesn't really allow you to snap to anything but it gets you close. The other thing you need to keep in mind is that there is a certain distance you have to drag the line before you see it actually move on the screen. What that distance happens to be, is still a mystery to me. It is never consistent when I do it. Just keep dragging the line over and eventually you'll see it move. Good luck!

This has also always caused me fits, and this thread is something that always pops up when I hunt to see how to do it. Fortunately for anyone else in the same boat, I'VE FIGURED IT OUT!!!
First I found this website...http://revitelemental.blogspot.com/2010/05/aligning-hatch-patterns-on-curved.html
But that only tells half the story. What you really need to do is select the vertical line in the surface pattern, then switch to plan view. THEN click rotate, and you'll see a dashed box that represents the vertical line in the pattern. The axis should already be set to the curved wall's axis, so all you need to do is click on the box as your reference point, and where you want it as the end point. Can't really align, but this is by far the most accurate I've gotten with vertical pattern lines on a curved surface. Beats dragging it and hoping for the best, anyway.

I believe the last time I had this problem, I added a temporary straight wall segment that was joined tangentially with the curved wall. I then aligned the pattern in the straight wall area and then deleted the straight wall.
