I am using Revit Architecture 2009.

My question is an attempt to find information that "I think" I ran across recently but cannot find again.  I am fairly certain that I found some reference to being able to associate detailing to a specific item so that when that item is cut in section or by detail callout that the associated information would show when the view was set to the appropriate scale.  I may have been dreaming at the time but I am fairly certain I was awake.

For example, in the case or a floor slab you may tie a detail group/component to that slab and set it up so that when the slab edge is shown a detail/section cut at a larger scale the view would include reinforcing, insulation, etc.

If anyone can confirm that this is possible and knows what it is called and/or how to do it, please let me know so I can stop going out of my gourd over it.

I don't think it can be done for system families (i.e. walls, floors, ceilings, curtain grids) but it can for component families. I the component family you can attach a detail component and define how it appears. For example, I have a counter family that we show with a specific wood molding around the edge. When I cut a section thru that family it show the detail component I have attached. It only shows in section too, not in elevation.
