Hello,

I am trying to create a 3-d Block of an embeded plate we use for a joist pocket in a tilt-up panel. I have created it as a Family (not sure if this was right thing to do or not).

The Embed is an inverted angle with a metal box out on top to block out the concrete from the wall. When I insert the object in the wall at the joist locations, the box does not cut out the concrete like I want it to. if fills it in.

Can someone explain to me how I can achieve this? also the embed has weldable rebar attached to it and when I cut a section the rebar hides, how can I get it to show up on a detail section?

There are two fiel I am attaching, one is the box-out done with a solid sweep and the other is done with a solid sweep and a void sweep extrusion.

Thank you kindly,

Vanrevit

Nevermind, you saved them in 2009 so I can't open them at the office Sad

From the looks of the preview, the first problem is that these are not wall or face based families.  To ahceive the cutout in the wall, you need to use wall or face based family templates so that you can make a void extrusion into the wall or object that is hosting the embed.

Take a look at these family files (attached).  I made them seperate because the client needed the pocket and embeds to be scheduled separately.  They are face based to allow for horizontal panels (room lid panels) to receive the embeds.

Let me know if you have any questions.
