My drawing got purged of all unused items and now I am left with a project that has no mullions in it. When I try to add a mullion I do the following: Load from family, navigate to the profiles, find a mullion profile in the curtain wall directory and select it. Then when I click on the mullion icon in the modeling tab, I get a message saying "no curtain wall mullions family is loaded in the project. Would you like to load one now?" So where do I find them? If they are not located in the curtain wall mullion folder, where would they be?

Mullions are a profile. Look in that folder or create your own profile under the correct category.

Right, I get the profile thing. That is where the issue is. If I go into the profiles directory, and then into curtain wall and select a curtain wall mullion profile, I still get the same message. So if the path that I followed isn't going to the correct family type, then where would I go to find the right family type for a mullion profile?

copy paste a curtain wall and a mullion into the project to have something to start with. this should solve the loading the profile (because im guessing every time you open a profile it says family is of the wrong category, correct?) follow this and then see if you can't find it. modeling>mullion>type properties>duplicate>rename under construction there should be a profile. select the drop down and select the profile you want. this should work especially since you already loaded a profile. let us know if it doesn't.

I had already did the copy and past thing, but it hadn't occurred to me to then try to load a new profile at that point. So... um... yeah, that totally worked! Sweet thing too, because the profile that I actually wanted was a 6" flat guy at a 45 deg. angle. I was trying to use the mullions to simulate a mechanical screen.

This is not working for me, as I have no curtain wall or mullions to copy/paste. Any thoughts?

you open a new project and make a curtain wall with the mullion you want in it. then you copy from one project to the other. then its in.

You don't have to copy and paste a curtain wall from another project. In the Project Browser under Families there is a listing for Curtain Wall Mullions. First load a curtain wall profile using File/Load from Library/Load Family.... Then under Curtain Wall Mullions there are 6 types. These 6 types can't be purged out. Right click on the shape you want and click on New Type and give it a name. Then in the properties of this newly created mullion type you can apply your mullion profile.
