is it possible to introduce a template into a drawing after a project is started?

copy everything into your new templatefile might work,

I haven't used this tool yet, so please try a test run before using it for real. Under the File menu there is a tool called Transfer Project Standards. I believe that you will open your template file and then open the file you want to transfer to. In the file that you want to transfer to, choose this tool and it will ask you where you want to transfer from. Choose your template and all of the information/standards should come in. Good Luck!
