I am having problems with an interior rendering. It is a fairly large basement room with walkout. One side is all glass so it should let sun light in. When I render it it is all black - no light at all. Neither sunlight or interior lights show anything. I believe that my settings are correct.

Interior: Sun and Arificial.

All lights are on.

In the custom settings the daylight portals like Doors and Windows are toggled.

Do not have any problems with exterior renderings.

Any idea ?

Thanks

We are having the same problem in our office.

Have tried many different combinations of lighting set ups but still a black render for all interior views.bucksy, was your project loaded in from a previous version ( 2008 )? that is the only thing we can put ours down to but cant see why it would effect it..

turn on your daylight portals! mental ray needs to know that the light is to travel through the glass.

Daylight portals for sure.

May have something to do with the trace depth of the glass aswell.  In my past life while working in Maya we could assign custom attributes to items like glass - like photo/FG pass through.  The daylight portal check boxes should do the same.

Looks like Autodesk are really trying to simplify MR settings within Revit.  It would be nice to be able to customise these settings as much as you can in Max and Maya aswell as enable command line rendering..  Ahh the good old days - ray -v  on -message geomi none -- -finalgather_rebuild freeze etc etc......

Hi there, there is a bug with the Interior: Sun and Arificial setting in Revit 2009. You need to get the service pack that is listed on this forum as it has the fix for this is issue.

I'm having the same problem with 2009 on a model updated from 2008.  I've got the latest build per this thread but interior renderings are all black.  I can render an exterior just fine.  I've tried daylight portals on and off.  I've got studio lights as well as recessed cans in my model.

thanks!
