Okay, this is really odd. I'm working on a  large atrium type area. I'm supposed to have two descending gently curving staircases from a balcony a ways up. They both have custom banisters and are open sided. The problem is that I have sucessfully completed one, the one on the left. However, every time I try in any way to make the one on the right I get a "can't create stringers gemetry error". I can't mirror the other one, hell, I can't even copy it. The copys get the same error.

If I make a new one its fine until I try to set it to "2-sides open", or any side open for that matter. Somehow I got the first one to work and now I just can't recreate it. Any ideas?

EDIT: I can't find an edit button.

Apparently I can copy it, I just can't mirror it. Go figure.

It sounds like you may have a line in your stringer sketch that is too short for the stringer profile that you are using.

Is this just a stair or a stair and some landings?

Assuming your first stair is OK.  Click on the stair and choose edit.  Copy to clipboard.  Quit the sketch.  Start a new stair command and paste from your clipboard.  Now mirror your skech with copy off and you should have it.

Okay, tried that, gave me the same error. I've been fiddling around, and it looks like Revit just won't allow me to make a curved staircase of "Residential Open 2 Sides" type at all.

Here is a good example of the stairs you can create.
