Background: I'm modeling tapered insulation to create a slope on a flat concrete roof deck with lots of roof drains. Revit will break up trapezoidal shaped areas into triangles. Also, if there is a roof opening like a duct penetration or skylight it breaks the surface down into triangles. All those "extra" triangles are certainly confusing and creates too much complexity. Is there a way to turn-off the display of those pesky extra lines so the basic planes are displayed on the roof plan and 3D views? Thanks

Devonshire, Use the linework tool - set to invisible lines. You'll have to do it in any view of your roof if you have more than one. john

we have run into the same thing. My question is are those extra lines anything more than just lines? or are the intermediate valleys that are really there? We have determined that Revit's roofing tool just isnt quite where it needs to be yet. We have a buidling with a 1/4" per foot slope that needs to be adhered to for code reasons and we created a family as well as using the Revit roof slope features. the family was perfect but the revit roof tool was way more intricate and we still had to do the math to figure point elevations. Took way more time using the tool than it did creating a family. That just isnt right in my opinion. I welcome all comments proving I am using it wrong.
